10 THINGS...

10 THINGS EVERY SUCCESS-MINDED
CHRISTIAN MUST DO

1…. SPEND TIME WITH THE LORD.

Spend time with Jesus Christ every single day. Read the Bible daily, at least a chapter in the New Testament a day. I cannot stress that enough for the success-minded Christian. So often we spend our time working on things that have no bearing on our future christian success because we haven’t taken the time to focus and understand what Jesus Christ wants for our lives and our success.

2…. DEFINE YOUR GOD-GIVEN DREAMS

Sit yourself down and define what your God-given vision is. Do this in regards to your top 3 areas on your life. For example, for others it might be: Christ, school, a relationship. For another, it might be: Christ, family, ministry, etc. And for yet another: Christ, family, business, etc. Individual priorities might be a little different but the first two must be Christ and family. Never put your business or your career before your family. Take your time to pray about this. Once you know your God-given vision, then you are ready for the next step.

3…. DESIGN A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE

Develop a “strategic plan” for each of your areas of top success priority. When you look at your life six months from now, especially in these 3 areas of success priority, you should be further along and better adapted in each of these areas than you are today. Look back six months ago. Have you improved in each of your success priority areas? If not, you need to take action. Now!

4…. GET A MENTOR FOR YOURSELF

Find a christian success mentor. This success mentor should be someone who can be concerned primarily for your personal growth in these areas of success priority. This should not be someone who is an “equal” with you. It should not be a classmate or course mate. And it should not be a friend who also confides in you. This should be a “one-way” street. He or she should be someone who will able to listen to your personal concerns in life, and help you develop a game plan to achieve your dreams. He or she should be someone who will be able to criticize you when you aren’t following your game plan. Because of that, he or she should probably not be someone with whom you are close emotionally, like a boyfriend/girlfriend or a spouse. He or she should be a more neutral person, perhaps a spirit-filled person in your church or someone recommended to you by your pastor.

5….. BREAK YOUR VISION INTO GOALS

Break each of your God-given dreams down into individual goal steps. These “steps” should be small enough that you can focus on that one step at a time and they shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish individually, and yet when you have completed all of the steps you must a gain significant ground in your priority for the given period.

6…. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS.

Write down all of your dreams and your goal steps in a special book. Write when you hope to achieve each of your goals. Leave room next to each goal step to write the date you started the goal step and the date you finished it. At the end of the six month you will be able to specifically track your progress.

7…. TAKE AWAY THE CHAFF FROM YOUR LIFE.

Eliminate unnecessary things in your life which do not help you accomplish your God-given dreams. Do not get addicted to anything. Stop watching the T.V if you think you are getting addicted to it. Switch off your cell phone when the need arises. Unplug the TV if you think it is not helping you to stay focused. Spend Saturday nights to evaluate your weekly goals. Avoid friends who are not going anywhere in life.

8…. HAVE TIME FOR YOURSELF

Learn to enjoy being alone with the Spirit of God. Have time for yourself. If you are married, learn to spend quality time with your family. Evaluate your rest…are you getting enough sleep? What can you do to get more sleep? What about hobbies? Do you enjoy walking, reading, or playing football? Find time to take the stress off your shoulders. Have fun with kingdom-minded friends whenever you get the opportunity. Spend enough time with your spouse and the family without interruptions by the phone and intruders. Do what it takes to get rest.

9…. EVALUATE YOUR PROGRESS PERIODICALLY.

Evaluate your success regularly. Do not skip this step. And do not ignore this good advise. Sure, some times you will fall short, but in other times too you will surely meet your personal success expectations.

10…. BE A MAN/WOMAN OF PRAYER AND ACTION

PRAY for your dreams every step of the way. Commit your daily plans into the hands of the Lord before you move out. But after prayer, do not wait for the manna to drop from the skies. Start somewhere, start today! Make that call. Chase that job. Chase that contract. Pray but take action and have your testimony. I wish you the best. Remain blessed.
